Heritage and Ethnicity in Romania: Mapping with Advanced New Software Tools, an Accessible Database for Transylvania – HERMAN(N)STADT
The digital analysis of the maps and city plans, together with the creation of a comprehensive digital database will constitute the elements of originality and innovation. The main objectives of the HERMAN(N)STADT project are promoting the heritage of Romania using state of the art research methods from the field of Digital Humanities, exploiting the full potential of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and enhancing the financial and logistical support for an investigation started during the PhD studies.
The project results will be disseminated through means best suited for each target audience (website, scientific publications, conference presentations). Popularizing the use of GIS databases will stimulate the employment of advanced digital tools in other research areas. We believe the methodology, multidisciplinary approach and the final project results will improve the standing of Romanian research within the international scientific community.
